During my internship I spent half a year from September '97 until February '98 on the East Coast of the United States. I lived in Alexandria, Virginia. It is located only half an hour away from Washington, DC.

As you may have read, the internship was formally organised by Carl Duisberg Society. If you think about international experience or if you just like the idea of spending some time abroad - do it! Take the chance and apply for the internship program. They will help you find a job and deal with the red tape (all the bureaucratical stuff you won't like).

My time in the US was not only a professional and cultural experience. It was also a very personal thing. I got to know my girlfriend there. The funny thing is: in Germany we lived only half an hour away from each other and we finally met in New York City...

When we are talking about the job I did, I have to mention the companies I worked for, of course: Subtechnique and Agris Schoen Vision Systems. I will always have to thank Bill, Kay and Rob for the great time I spent there.

The Photography section of this website will give you an idea of my time in the States...
